Day 2: Minnesota and Wisconsin
In which our protagonist encounters life challenges
- 0830: A beautiful, if grey, day in the land of a thousand lakes. I didn’t realize how much I liked landscape features before I experienced Montana and ND.
- 1200: DISASTER. THE TRAIN HAS RUN OUT OF ROLLS AND BUTTER.
- 1300: Wisconsin, but I am too despondent to care. Looks like MN, with fewer lakes.
- 1630: Arrived at Union Station, just a little late due to numerous track delays to let freight trains through. The Great Hall is lovely, but I’m surprised at how small the station is, considering how important trains have been to its development.
- 2100: 5-hour layover –> I can no longer feel my butt
- 2130: Finally in my compartment, only to discover SOMEONE HAS USED THE TOILET AND NOT FLUSHED. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
- 2200: Amtrak personnel did the most cursory cleaning ever, so I took matters into my own hands and did a complete cleaning with my personal stash of Clorox disinfectant wipes. Sometimes, being a germophobe has its benefits.
- 2230: This day needs to end.
