Travel Diary, Part 1

Unfortunately, I did not have wifi for the Seattle to Chicago leg of my trip (heck, I barely had cell service), so I wasn’t able to upload my thoughts and observations real-time. However, I did take notes the old-school way, so here they are:

Day 0.5: Boarding Everything is charming and amazing! I am so excited to be onboard!

Sleeper compartment
My room
  • 1700 Hours: The room is small but well-designed, with room for me, my baggage, and even my travel buddy
Shrimp with lobster sauce, roll, salad, utensils
Shrimp with lobster sauce
  • 1800: Supper was shrimp with lobster sauce – about the same quality as airline food, back when airlines used to serve real meals, but larger. Also, your average dinner roll and pat of butter, which for some reason, I am totally enamored of.
  • 2000: The very solicitous attendant has turned my couch into a bed!
  • 2030: Trains sway. A lot. It’s a very nice way to fall asleep. Montana in the morning!
